Some rivers of Siberia flow over ice many years old, and almost as solid as rock. A tributary of the Lena has a bed of pure ice more than nine feet thick. Needlework done by Mary Queen of Scots, Queen Elizabeth, and Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII., was rerecently exhibited in London in aid of a ,hc»pital. ' ' .
