CALEDONIAN SOCIETY
The first meeting of the new directorate of the Wellington Caledonian Society was held in the Caledonian Hall last night. In spite of the inclement weather, there was a full attendance. Chief R. H. Nimmo was in the chair. A full and comprehensive policy for the coming year was decided on. It. was stated that the society had been granted the Basin Reserve for, the., annual sports on Boxing Day, and an energetic committee is to be appointed to . carry out a Highland and amateur athletic sports meetiug. It was. unanimously decided to affiliate with the Wellington Amateur Athletic Associatiou, to carry out a scheme for forming an athletic club, in conjunction with the Thistle Football Club, to foster the sporting spirit in the athletic members of the society. The Social Committee has recommended a series of Scotch entertainments at which the older members of the society will be specially catered for. Mr. H. S. Hannah was unanimously re-elected secretary for the fifth year in succession.
