When the conference of the Australasian Council of Trades Unions and Maritime Unions meets to-morrow certain union officials will demand that the council either definitely remains in charge of the cooks' dispute, with or without Mr. Tudehope's authority, or retire from the dispute altogether. It ls now recognised that the Australasian Council of Trades Unions is on its trial, and, if it fails to insist upon its authority to conduct the dispute, it will have been dealt a 1 blow from which it will bo unable to recover.
