DAVIS CUP TENNIS
A CHINESE RIVAL TO TILDEN • ' . Australian Pres* Association—United Servlc* NEW YORK, 23rd May. The "New York Times' " correspondent at Kansas City says that the principal player in the Chinese l^avis Cup team is Luin, who spent nearly all his lite in Australia, and had an opportunity to develop his game against some of the best players in Australian tennis. None was more responsible for the high standard that Lum has attained than Patterson. Lum has Patterson's form and manner of stroke production. He delivers his service with the same body motion, and his forehand and backhand are like Patterson's although Lum has better control over the latter shot, including the backhand slice. The conviction is that he is going to make it interesting for his opponents here, who will likely be W. T. Tilden and J. Henj nessy. ■- '
