BRITISH AMATEUR EVENT GUNSON DEFEATED. Australian Press Association—United Service. (Received 24th May, noon.). ' LONDON, 23rd May. All the Americans have been eliminated in the British amateur golf championship. E. W. E. Holderness, who won the championship in 1922 and 1924, beat America's chief hope, J. M'Hugh, amateur champion of California,Mn the second round, 2 and 1. J. Lang beat Major C. 0. Hezlett in the second round, 1 up. The ex-champion, R. H. "Wcthered (1923) beat Oppenheimer in the second round, 4 and 3. G. F. Gunson (New Zealand) was defeated by R. Cant (Carnoustie), 4 and 3. Last year Cant Was beaten in the third round by "W. L. Hope, 5 and 4.
