How many people will the earth support? This problem has been occupying tho attention of some German professors. Professor Albrecht Penck, tho well-known Berlin geographer, computes the human population of tho Earth at present at 1,800,000,000, and that this is only about a fifth of the numbers which the earth could feed at a pinch. Others put tho figure lower. Apparently Europo is, of all the continents, v tho nearest to saturation point, but Asia, South America, and Africa have a long way to go yet to reach their maxima. Australia, including New Zealand, and the islands, can, these Germans think, support a [population . of. 450,000,000.
