TWICE VETOED
M'NARY-HAUGEN BILL PRESIDENT'S COMMENT. Australian Press Association—United Service. (Received 24th May, 1.45 p.m.) WASHINGTON, 23rd May. President Coolidge, for the second time, vetoed the M'Nary-Haugen Farm Relief Bill, which was designed to aid the stabilisation of the agricultural industry. No chance of-passing-the Bill over the veto is now seen. The Bill set up a Federal farm board, appointed by the President, which was to supervise the disposal of the surplus of farm operations. . The President' made the following statement regarding the veto: "This document is much altered from its previous form, but in substance, particularly as to the evident ultimate effect of trying to delude tho farmer with a fantastic promise of unworkable Governmental price regulation, it is still as repugnant as ever to the spirit of bur institutions both political and commercial."
