ITALIAN MIGRANTS
COLONISING AUSTRALIA ORGANISATION ALLEGED Australian Press Association. (Received 22nd May, 2 p.m.) PARIS, 21st May. M. Henry Dekorab. French publicist, in an article on British migration in "Le Matin," says that at present only three countries are able to supply white immigrants—Germany, Poland, and Italy. At present Germany is holding back, but Italy has begun a systematic scheme of colonisation. Methodically and systematically Italians are going to Australia. The Australian authorities are not encouraging them, but they manage without it, owing to their own excellent local organisation. Each newcomer finds the credits necessary to establish him in a sort of loan of honour, which the migrant engages to return by making a loan on the cohorts following him. It is easy to imagine that after years of this kind of penetration ' Australia and Canada will not retain their traditional aspect of British Dominions. Their spirit will be changed and their political tendencies modi fled.
