"MERCENARY MARY."
"Mercenary Mary," to be'presented, at His Majesty's Theatre to-night, will be the last production of what has been one of .the most successful musical comedy- seasons held In Wellington. "Mercenary Mary" is essentially a domestic play. The audienco is convulsed with laughter during a scene In which Mary (Elsie Prince) endeavours to forget that she Is a respectable married woman and seeks to compromise herself with a hired corespondent in order that her husband may get a divorce, and in consequence cain tlie (roodwill of Ilia much displeased grandfather. Brimming' over with sparkling wit and clever repartee, the fun never lajw. The scenery is liretty and the dressing somewhat striking. There will be no Wednesday matinee this week. On Saturday nest, which is the final (lay of the .season, a' matinee will be given in the afternoon.
