In tlio New Zealand area pressure changes hiivo been slight, but since Sunday night barometers have risen slowly, and this morniug ail aiiti-cyclouo was centred between-Now Zealand and tho Chatham Islands. On Saturday fair to cloudy weather prevailed iv most parts of the North Island, while rather unsettled conditions and scattered rain ruled in tho South Island. Since Sunday night, however, the weather lias been generally cloudy and unsettled, .with mist and rain »t many places in both islands. A few places have reported heavy rain. Wellington has had 117 points of rain during the past two days, 78 points up to 9 a.m. yesterday1, and o'i) points up to this morning. Moderate to fresh north to west winds prevailed on Saturday, but by Sunday morning a chango to southerly had taken place in and south of Cook Strait. At i) a.m. to-day the directions were chietly easterly. The forecast is for further dull weather with much mist and fog and some rain at scattered places, but chiefly light. Winds are likely to be moderate to variable, northerly prevailing, north of Cape Eguiont and Gastlcpoint, and elsewhere east to north. Little movement of t he barometer is expected, but there will probably be a falling tendency soon in the south.
