STORMY VOYAGE

THE ItONA BUFFETED (By Xelcgrnph.—fresa Association.) AUCKLAND, Thi* Day. A prolonged and stormy voyage from Suva was experienced by the Colonial Sugar Company'« steamer Bonn, which reached Auckland last evening. The vessel usually takes five days on the voyage, but this trip, owing to the continuous stormy conditions, took Seven days. Loaded with 8300 tons of sugar and moUiics, the Mona «kared Suva at noon on Thursday, 12th January, At midday on Wednesday whtn the Hona was 160 miles from Auckland the wind increased again to gale force and the vessel had to be hove-to a second time. The gale blew afterwards for sixteen hourt and during that time the Rona wat kept head-on to the high seas, but the waves broke Aver her decks from ail quarters. The seas did not calm until the vessel had reached the shelter of the Great Barrier. The seaworthitess of the vessel is shown by the fact fhat in spite of the heavy .dead weight of catgd the only damage done was some broken steam pipe guards on the deck.
