(United Press Association.—Copyright.) MELBOURNE, Sth January. The Davis Cup trials were concluded' todya. Hawkes beat Cummings, 6-3, 6-3, 6-3; Hopman beat Moon, G-0, 6-4, 6-4; Kalms beat Kowe, 6-4, 6-4, 64.
A police dog recently exhibited at Columbia University, has learned to understand between 300 and 400 words. The animal obeyed such orders as picking a coin off a table and taking it to various persons indicated.
