THEIR LATEST CLAIMS The following resume of the work of the Australian Women's Conference lias been sent to the "International Woman Suffrage News":—"We, the delegates assembled in the second triennial conference of the Federation of Women's Societies for Equal Citizenship, do hereby affirm our belief in: Woman's claim to a real equality of liberties, status, and opportunities in the family and society and as fellow-citizens with men in the common service of tho nations. Therefore, this conference calls upon the Federal and State Governments to in-

elude women on all National or State Commissions, delegations, ov boards. That all positions and all posts in the Commonwealth and State Civil Services should be opeu to women as to men, and that advancement to all higher posts bo equally open for both sexes. That wo affirm the principle of equal pay for tho sexes and that the standard of payment should bo based upon the physical and intellectual suitability of tho worker and not on sex. That all laws, measures, or regulations dealing with public morals shall be so framed as not to differentiate between the sexes, either in wording or in enforcement. Believing in the importance of the election of women to both Federal and State Parliaments, conference recommends that constituent societies in each State take action to secure tho return of suitable candidates." Resolutions were also passed on the following points: National welfare and system of Federal grants for health, education, etc.; care of mental defectives; maternal mortality; widows and deserted wives; domestic science training; Federal marriage law; Fedyal divorce law; women's status in the British Empire, suffrage, representation on the Imperial Conference, on migration committees, etc.; reciprocal legislation on maintenance for deserted wives; sale of liquor; maternity allowances; a model aboriginal State; relations between the States and the Commonwealth; social economic laws; film censorship; nationality of married women; motherhood endowment; equal moral standard; peace and the League of Nations.
