(From Our Own Correspondent.) NELSON, 7th January. A handsome addition to local business places is the new building of the Anchor Shipping and Foundry Company. It is a two-story structure of striking appearance, just completed at the Port in red brick. Mr. C. Broad, principal of the Boys' College, Nelson, after an extended trip to England, is back in Wellington, en route to Nelson. In the bowling tournament Cappiello's team continued in good form. They won the fours contest, beating Johnson by 26 to 14. The winning rink comprised Aydon, ;\ ':-li1v!, Persico, and Cappiello (s.). Cappiello U.l and Persico also won the pairs. Playing off, Edwards and Kudraan i (s.) beat John and Joe Vitetta (s.) by |23 to 21. Mr. O. A. Banner, late headmaster of the Motueka District High School, was presented with a travelling rug by the members of the school committee. He has been appointed to a similar position in Wellington, and the district which he has been serving for about five years will suffer ii loss through his departure. Nelson fruit, to the extent of 572,000 cases, is already booked for shipping space. Hawkes Bay comes next with 154,000 cases. It is expected that the total fruit exported will reach the 900,000 mark, which is the record. The teachers' summer school, which will commence on Tuesday next, promises to bo well patronised. The total number of teachers attending will be 317, of which 190 will lie accommodated in camps specially provided; 140 women teachers will camp at Auckland Point School, and 50 men teachers will take up their quarters at the Central School.
