LYALL BAY CARNIVAL.
This afternoon and evening arc the last opportunities the public will have of enjoying "all the fun of the fair" at tho carnival on the Lyall Bay Recreation Ground. Since.the opening day, the carnival has been generously patronised by merry-makers trying their skill at the side-shows, riding on the miniature railway, or watching tho antics of the victim of the "Duckem." The afternoon's events are a children's fancy bathing costume competition, a lute-flying contest, a long-hair competition, and a baby show, while this evening tho nnal of the Charleston contest will take place in the spacious dancing tent, with full orchestra. A largo attendance is expected this evening, and it is hoped that a substantial sum will be raised towards the expense of a children's play area in tho district.
