SKIN AND HIDE SALES.
The usual fortnightly sale of sheepskins, hides tallow, and sundries was held yesterday. There was a full attendance of buyers. Sheepskins were in good demand. Values for dry were generally par to Hd per lb better. Salteds, firm at late rates. Hides were in strong demand. Heavyweights appreciated %d to Id; medium and light-weights, Id to V&d; kip and yearlings, fully l%d per lb better than late rates; calfskins, par. The following was the range of prices:—Sheepskins: Haltbred, 12ttd to 15Hd; fine crossbred, ]3y«d to 15d; medium to coarse crossbred, ll%d to 14d; short half-wools, 9d to 12% d; lambs, 9d to 14'zid; dead and damaged crossbred; 7%d to 12% d; inferior and badly damaged, 2d to lOd; pelts, 7d to 10% d; damp, salted, and green, 6s 6d to 11s 8d; pelts, salted, Is 6d to 4s 6d; lambs, salted, 2s to 4s 3d. Hides: Ox, extra heavy, 701b and over, 12d to 12 5-8 d; heavy, 591b to 691b, 11 5-8 d to 12% d; medium, 531b to 5818, 11 5-8 d to 12 7-8 d; light, 451b to 521b, 11 7-8 d to 12% d; cut, slippy, and inferior, 4d to 12 l-8d; cow, heavy, 531b and over, 11 5-8 dto 12 7-8 d; medium, 451b to 521b, 12d to 14d; light, 331b to 441b, 10% dto 13'/4d; cut, slippy, and inferior, 6d to 10% d; bull stag, 4%d to B^d; yearlings, 111b to 161b, 12% dto 14d; 171b to 321b, 9Hd to 14 l-8d; calf, superior, up to 101b, not quoted; medium to good, up to 101b, 13d to 16 l-8d; damaged, up to 101b, 3d to 14d. Tallow: In casks, 21s to 235; in tins, etc., 18s to 245. Sundries: Horsehair, 24% dto 25d; cow tails, 18d to 21d.
