RIFLE SHOOTING
MEETING AT TRENTHAM TEAMS MATCH TO FEATHERSTON C. WHITEMAN, CHAMPION The annual meeting of the Wellington Rifle Association was held at Trentham iyn Monday and Tuesday, was thoroughly successful, although the number of entries was not as large as was anticipatt"i. The range was controlled by Captain P. Barcham, who was assisted by Lieut. F. Gillham and members of the executive under Deputy-President W. J. H. Haase. Deputy-President W. G. Fellingham, assisted by Lieut. F. Smith, was chief trench officer. The Wellington Championship went to Rifleman C. Whiteman, who won the North Island Championship at Wanganui last week. Rifleman T. Kidd (Suburbs) was a good second. Rifleman A.. V. Swanson (Karori) took the Midfield Aggregate and the Licensed Victuallers' Cup. .The teams'.match was, won by Featherston by the narrow- margin of one point from Petone. The Petone Rifle Chrb will fire at the 800 and 900 yard ranges at Trentham on Saturday, the competition to count for the long-range series and longfield aggregate. The Karori Rifle Club will commence a fortnightly competition at Trentham tomorrow at 800 and 900 yards. The Old Navals Defence Rifle Club will continue its programme at Trentham on Saturday.
