BUTTER SLOW, CHEESE QUIET.
Mr. W. IT. Kent has received the following cabled advice from lv's principals, Messrs. A. J. Mills and Co., Ltd., London, under date sth January:—Butter: The market is slow, with prices slightly easier at 160s to 1625. Retail reduced to Is 7d per lb. Cheese: Market quiet. Retail price reduced to Is per lb. White cheese quoted at 93s to 945; coloured cheese, 82s to 935. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., report having received the following cablegram from their London house under date of sth January:— Butter.—Market quiet. We quote: Danish, 182s to 184s (180s to 182s); New Zealand finest salted, 160s to 164s (160s to 1625); Australian finest unsalted, 164s to 166s (164s to 1665), Baited, 156s to 160s (156s to 160s); Australian g.a.q., 150s to 1545. Cheese.—Market quiet. We quote: Australian cliees*, white and coloured, not quoted. New Zealand cheese, white and coloured, 92* to 94s (90s to 925); Canadian cheese, white and coloured, 100s to 102s (98s to 102s); Canadian cheese, c.i.f., not quoted. (Last week's quotations shown •in parentheses.)
