HELP BY SUBSIDY

LONDON, 15th December. Discussing the beet sugar subsidy, Mr. Walter Buneiman, .a former President of the Board of .' : Tradc,. complained in the House of Common's that it.would reach the staggering total of £20,000,----000 in the course of ten years. Mor.e- \ over, the lion's share-was going to the factory-owners and not to the farmers. The Minister of Agriculture (the Eight Hon. Walter E. Guinnesg), jus-. tifying the subsidy, said that nineteen beet sugar factories were now ia operation.
The vote wag agreed to.
