ENGINEER ARRESTED

MOTOR SIGNAL DEVICE

John Kobert O'Brien, an engineer, was arrested on a provisional warrant on a charge of obtaining £3165 from Albert Pearson, by.falsfe pretences, at Wellington, New Zealand. Appearing before the Police Court, O'Brien gave evidence that he sold x Pearson a share in the New Zealand^ rights in a motor-car signal device he had invented, for £1860. He left New Zealand in order to get the invention on the market. ........

Superintendent Mahkey, in charge of the Sydney Criminal Investigation branch, gave evidence that O/TJrien had seen, him with reference to the invention. Witness added that he thought the invention very ingenious. ■The case was adjourned till to-mor-row.
