Joyce Mac Donald, Newtown. Dear Fairiel, —On Guy Fawkes Day the little boy next door and I made a Guy, and as there was a competition and a prize for the best Guy we took it along and won a five-shilling prize. Keith and I had half a crown each. I gnve mine to the Residential Nursery. It was my birthday on the 10th of this month. I had a lovely time and' got a number of presents. The other night I went to a concert and sold sweets. It was given by the pupils of Mrs. Ransom Myers in aid of the Residential Nursery, and it was given in' the Concert' Chamber.—Good-bye, dear Fairiel. WINNIE. Winnie Staple, Kilbirnie. Dear Fairiel, —Last Sunday I went for a bus ride up to Petone, and saw some lovely little chickens. When the lady went out to feed them my mother and I went out to watch. One little chicken was so cheeky that when the lady touched him he went up to her and tried to peck her. When the others saw him fighting they all cuddled up in the corner. We stayed there for tea, and it was late _ when we left there, and I was afraid we might miss the bus. It was pretty to see all the lights round Oriental Bay and on the hill. As we were going out there we saw the slip. I was glad when we got home, because it was very dark. —Love from JOYCE.
