HOME OFFICE DETERMINED
Regulations for the efficient silencing of all vehicles are to be enforced with the "strictest rigour'» at Home. A special warning has been issued by the Home Office warning that steps are to be taken to stop the "intolerable nuisance" both of noisy cars and noisy cycles. . , . - . The Home Secretary points out that a warning which he issued in August, 192G, has uot had the de»red effect, and that "in spite of the largo number
of proceedings taken, the position in London is not yet satisfactory." In many parts of the country outside London, too, there is still much ground for dissatisfaction, and he has accordingly addressed a circular letter to chief constables in England and Wales asking them to co-operato in tho suppression of noise.
Motirists arc* warned, 'that if they desire to escape liability to tho fine of £10 they must see that their machines are effectively silenced.
