WELLINGTON CLUB'S REPORT

"The past season was a most successful one from the competitors' point of view, but financially our position is very much below that of the previous season," sayA tho annual report of the Wellington Ladies' Amateur Athletic Club, to be presented at the annual meeting in Scott's tea; rooms at 7 p.m. on Mondaynext. There was a slight increase in the club's membership, but it is recommended, that special endeavours be made to further strengthen the club if more events for ladies are to be provided at the various' sports meetings. The report records several good perform* ■ ances registered by members of the clul>" during the season. The Wellington ladies* 100 yds provincial championship was won by Miss E. Porter, with Miss S. .Swinburne second. A 220 yds championship was won by Miss Manttan, with Miss M. Col., lins second. _ Miss Porter, by winning the - 100 yds provincial championship, won the Wilkins Cup, while Miss Manttan won the Peat Pendant. Misses Manttan, Porter, Swinburne, and Collins were sent by the Wellington Centre to represent Wei. lington at the New Zealand championships' at Auckland. Miss Manttan won the 100 yds New Zealand ladies' championship, • with Miss Swinburne second. In the 100 . yds championship Miss Manttan registered a very fine performance, returning tha splendid time of 11 3-ssec. There -WHs na competition in the relay championship,' the Wellington girls having to run againsii their own time. During the season invitations to com. pete in Wellington were extended to mem. bers of ladies' clubs outßide Wellington, and a Wellington team, comprising Misses Manttan, Porter, Stevenson and Collins competed at Gisborne. The team also took " part in a sports meeting at Napier on the ■ way to Gisborne. Teams were invited to Nelson (twice), and Motueka, and a • very enjoyable time -was spent by those who made the trips. ■•-... . During the coming season members will' be well catered for in the way of sports meetings, and a successful season is anticipated.
