SPRING FLOWERS

WELLINGTON SHOW

This year, owing to' the abundant moisture and absence of wind, the spring blooms are exceptionally good. The newly-formed National Daffodil Socioty has bronght. into the limelight a number of new growers, who are keen to let the Wellington public see what can be grown in other parts of the Dominion. The Hutt and Suburban growers are also showing in the latest and best varieties. The veteran grower from Taranaki, Mr. Robert Gibson, whose blooms- were the feature of the Hutt Show, will be making a display which should alone justify a visit to the Capital City's show. The advent of two new suburban-societies has created the keenest interest- in the suburban competition for the "R. A Wright" trophy. * The show will be officially opened by Their Excellencies, Sir Charles and Lady Alice Fergusson, at 3 p.m. on' Wednesday. An orchestra. will be in attendance, afternoon and evening, and afternoon tea will be dispensed by the ladies of the society. Entries for all classes close on Tuesday next at 5 p.m. with the secretary.

Ihe St. Thomas's Horticultural Society will, hold its Spring Show next Thursday in the hall, Riddiford street,-' Newtown, when there should be a good display of spring flowers, pot plants, etc., by both adults aud' children, miscellaneous exhibits, and home industries. There are special sections for children of various ages. Schedules giving full particulars are obtainable from florists.
