BETTER ROADS DESIRED

A meeting of a number of citizens and settlers - passed a resolution that the Minister of Public Works should give work to the unemployed on improving the Akitio County, roads leading to Pahiatua in view of the increasing traffic. owing tp. the fat lamb ; trade growing considerably. A gang of unemployed is now at work on the Pahiatua hill road leading to Palnierston North, but it -was' contended that the Akitio road work was . more important. The need of facilities for quicker arid cheaper transit from, the Akitio backblocks to the: Pahiatua. Tailhead was urged upon the member of the district, Mr..E. A. Ransom, who was present.
