TROTTING NOTES

Nominations for the Wellington Trotting Club's Spring Meeting close on Friday next.

Acording to reports the next Auckland Trotting Cup will be a 4min 2Ssec class event. . •

The Australian-bred pacer Parkwood and Bertha Bingen, sister to Great Bingen, Peter Bingen, and Great Peter, have been transferred from J. J. Kennerley's stable to Oakhampton Lodge. This was deemed advisable as the Addington course is too hard for Parkwood to wind him up thoroughly, while the swimming pool at J. Bryce's is of great assistance to a horse that requires a careful preparation. The nomination Sheik for the New Zealand Trotting Cup was not altogether unexpected,- as there are few opportunities in Sydney for a good two miler, and when_ raced in the Dominion the son of Bonnie Chief proved that he was equal to holding his own with the best. Dillon Wilkeß was raced well at the August Meeting, but.he did not show up at the finish of his races. Dillon Wilkes had not started for some time, and it looks as though he will require some racing before he is at his best. He is doing well in his training. Guy Bacon has won the greatest splitheat trotting race ever seen in Europe. It was at Berlin, Germany, on a recent Sunday, and four record-breaking heats were raced. Of these he took the second in 2min 6%sec, and the fourth in 2min TAsee— a splendid performance. He was driven by C. Mills," the champion reinsman of Europe.

C. Rokkjer, who is well known in Auckland, continues to do well in Sydney with his team, and at the Victoria Park Trotting Club's Meeting last week he won a double with Native Prince and Rock Allen, both of whom were brought across to Auckland a couple of seasons ago and raced at Alexandra Park, where Rock Allen won a double.

A. G. Wilson has a two-year-old trotter by Sonoma Harvester from the Electioneer mare Fatality in work (says the Christchurch "Star"). The youngster has only had a. few weeks' training, but he has a real turn of speed, and is particularly well gaited. It is not intended to do much with him in the meantime, as after a few months' work he is to be turned out again and given a further spell. Wilson has been, particularly successful with trotters, the well-known mare Reta Peter being in his charge when she secured two New Zealand Cups. The, brilliant Kawhaki, who won the New Zealand Trotting Stakes in 1925, but who died soon afterwards, was educated, trained, and driven by the New Brighton trainer. It now appears as though he has another, possible champion in the Sonoma Harvester gelding, provided he trains on satisfactorily.

Little, notice need be taken of Sea Pearl's failures at Addington. She will be a much better mare, all being well, when the next meeting comes along at Addington. . \
