WORK OF COMMITTEES
(To the Editor.)
Sir,—The letter of "Cosmo" just bears out what I said about outsiders interfering. Surely, as a business man, he must appreciate the fact that once a committee has been elected it has to represent and carry out the views of those who elected, it. Then what is the use of a lot ot self-elected geniuses "butting in" with their views? Let the committee do its work, and do not hamper it with ill-advis-ed suggestions. There should be no controversy; let it be business, carried out on business lines. It is this'very controversy that delays everything. Just think that it is nine years since the Armistice, and we have not a memorial to our fallen heroes. The reason is that there are too many suggestions, and nothing doing. "Cosmo" refers to the marks of war. Well, I have served through two big wars, and under three Sovereigns, so I don't know much about delicate sentiment. But, as a soldier, I stand for duty, official or military.—l am, etc.,
SOLDAT.
