LONDON, lOttj August. The "Daily News" states that Watkin James Williams, of Cardiff, -who moteorically njado a fortune in shipping, has been arrested on charges relating to the foundering of the steamer Eastway, of which he wag tho registered manager, 150 mijes from Berpiudd, on 22nd October, 193(5, v.ith the Iqgs of twonty-threo lives. The Board of Trade inquiry showed that the vessel was laden 13| inches beyond the winter load-line. She was insured for £64 100 and was worth £gO,OQO. Her dead weight was 9580 tons, and should have been 9120. Thq Court blamed Williams and ordered Mm to pay £1000 towards the cost of the inquiry.
