Department reports that the production of all wheat is estim? + l edQo? fc r n^ l 'l4?' ooo b«shels, compared with 833,000,000 bushels in 1926. , Tlle. condition of the spring wheat on Ist August was 56.4 per cent, normal, indicating a production of 298,378,000 bushels, compared with 205,000,000 bushels in 1926. The preliminary production of winter wheat is estimated at 552,767,000 bushels, compared with 627,000,000 bushels harvested in 1926. The quality of the winter wheat was 88.5 per cent., and the average yield per acre 14 bushels. A marked improvement in the.crop prospects occurred in July, chiefly as the result o£ a more evenly distributed rainfall. There is at present no drought or excessive rain, and the temperatures are moderate. In most States the crops have made good progress during recent weeks.
