. The Nelson Ladies' Golf Club held matches on Friday. The 'play resulted as follows:—Seniors—Miss Hogg 2 down, Mrs. Green 3 down, Miss Acheson 4 down. Juniors—Mrs. Thompson 3 up, Mrs. Menlove 1 down. In the senior championship Mrs. Cock beat Mrs. Waters. Mrs. N. Rout holed out in one at "Pitch and Toss."

Presentations were made to Mr. J. H. Dayman upon the occasion of his severing his connection as foreman blacksmith with tho Anchor, Foundry, a position he has occupied for. 58 yeari. . Mr. Dayman was a member of the crew- of the Aurora, mentioned in connection with the rescue of the boat belongingto the wrecked Queen Bee. Another member of that crew is Major Simpson, who has been connected with the "Nelson Mail" for the best part of fifty, years.
