ALEXANDER WATSON RECITALS
A good and very appreciative audience assembled at Hie Concert Chamber last night to enjoy another of Mr. Alexander Watson's artistic recituls. Tho programme included two celebrated scenes from Shakespeare, one the quarrel scene from "Romeo and Juliet," Involving the tragic deaths of Mcrcutlo and Tybalt, and the other, a widely "different one, the laughable meeting of Caliban, Trinculo, and Stephano, from "Tho Tempest," In which Mr. Watson expressed the humour of the drunken butler to the full without tho slightest vulgarity. Tho Highwayman" (Alfred Noycs). "Tho Shorter Catechism" (John Buchan), "Why Tomas Cam was Grumpy" (.lames Stephens), "Tho Dutchman's Dog" (C. F. Adams), and "Early Rising" (John Poolf) mado up an exacting programme, but the audience was not satisfied, and Mr. Watsou gave a capital encore number describing tho small hoy's love for motor vehicles and tho
Lovers of Dickens will bo well catered for to-night at Mr. Watson's sixth recital, as the programmo includes Marley's Ghost anil the reformation of Scroogo from "A Christmas Carol," and Winkle's misadvonturo at Bath, from "Pickwick Papers." Tlie miscellaneous second part Includes Christina Rossctll's poem, ".lesslo Cameron," "Tho Charge of tlie Heavy Brigade," and "Lady Clare," by Tennyson, tho American selection, "Knlltin* at tho Stockhr," (A. Bellaw), and "Brown. Miss Simmonds, and I" (Anon). To-morrow night n great popular programme includes verse and variety by Kipling, Shakespeare, Dickons. Tennyson. Mark Twain, and others. On Monday "Tho Llttlo Minister" will be repeated.
