BRITISH DELEGATES
RETURN TO CONFERENCE
STILL HOLD OUT HOPE
(Received 2Sth Jul 3 -, 10 a.m.)
LONDON, 27th July. "We shall finish the work this time one way or the other. We are returning after long discussions with the Cabinet, and we think the position is clear. Britain' 3 case remains fundamentally unchanged. Nevertheless I see just as "good hope of a settlement as when we came back," declared the Hon. W. C. Bridgeman, leading British delegate, when leaving for Geneva. He was accompanied by Lord Robert Cecil and Viscount Jellicoc.
It is understood that the delegation is taking back a carefully drafted plan to which it is confidently anticipated the Americans and Japanese will give their assent.
Sir Joseph Cook, the Australian delegate, will return to-night, and Sir James Parr, the New Zealand delegate, during the week-end.
