FEROCIOUS "BIRD"

CHEISTCHURCH, 27th July. _ When Ralph -Theodore Lloyd walked into the Salvation Army Homo last night he pulled the blankets off Henry Clark, who was sleeping there, hit Clark three times on tho jaw, and then sot about to throttlo him. At tho Magistrate's Court to-day Lloyd was charged with assault.
"He is a bird of passage," said tho Sub-Inspector. The accused pleaded guilty, stating that he was drunk when tho offence was committed. He had been working, and was a ship's fireman. Lloyd was convicted and fined £5, in default fourteen days' imprisonment.
