HOUSE IN DANGER
PROBABILITY OF LANDSLIDE

AUCKLAND, This Day. A crack appeared in the roadway at the bottom of Sentinel road, Ponsonby, yesterday afternoon, and there was a danger of a landslide following. A two-storied house occupied by Mr. A. J. Billington and his family, close by, is seriously threatened, and the precaution was taken of evacuating the building and removing the furniture. _ Steps were also taken to take the chimney down. An. adjoining house, occupied by Mr. A. GifEord, is also threatened, T>ut to a lesser degree. The crack extends underneath Mr. Billington's house, and has thrown the portion of the building overlooking the sea out of alignment. Other, cracks are showing up on the cliff face, and water is percolating through the retaining wall.
