YOUNG MAN'S ESCAPADES

The police stated that the accused bought some furniture in. Wellington on Thursday*/paying a deposit of £310s. Immediately, ho took, the furniture to a firm of .auctioneers and sold it for £35.. With .'this monoy ho paid £30 deposit on a" second-hand car, and left Wellington on the car on'Fxiday, accompaniod by a woman who had" been previously convicted of theft. Ho spent 1 the night at Shannon, arriving at Hawera on Saturday. Ho eamo under tho notice of tho policb oh Sunday when he tried to buy a bottle of wine from an hotel. Later ho went to New Plymouth in company with a young girl, who at present as in the charge of the probation.ofucer. Gibson also bought benzine on credit at Hawera, Inglewood, and New Plymouth. - ..--

The accused was fined £2, in default 14 days 'imprisonment, on a chargeof being on licensed premises, and £1, in default, seven days' imprisonment, for failing, to - produce a car driver's license. A charge of being an idle and disorderly person iraa dismissed. An application for,the suppression of his name was refused.
