Rain delayed the resumption of the match between the New Zealand cricket team and the Warwickshire eleven at Edgbaston, Birmingham, and eventually caused its abandonment. The visiting team were unfortunate, as they were undoubtedly robbed of an innings victory, despite their brilliant batting, teen" fielding, and steady bowling. The New Zealand bowlers were handicapped by a wet ball, but did very Well for all that. Kilner was out leg before in the last ball of M'Girr's first over after lunch. He had been at the crease for a hundred minutes, and had hit eight 4's. Parsons and Croom were quickly dismissed, but Quaife was at the wicket for two hours before Merlitt followed up his earlier successes and got him, eventually bringing disaster to other Warwickshire batsmen. I He clean bowled Calthorpe when the | total score was 175 for seven wickets, i but thirteen runs later there was a torrential downpour of rain and the match | had to be abandoned.
