HETTON BELLBIRD COLLIERIES.
Shares in Hetton Bellbird Collieries are sometimes dealt with in New Zealand. The company's report for the year ended 30th June shows a net profit of £40,318; after writing off portion of the cost of reconstruction of the mine. This is an increase of over £12,000 on the year. With': £1512 brought forward, the sum available is £47,830;' Dividend of 7 per cent, on preference shares and 10 per cent., including interim (compared with 8 per. cent, for the previous year) absorbs £44,927, leaving £2903 to be carried forward. Indicating expansion in trading operations, a big increase ■ appears in the bank overdraft and sundry creditors, 1 and a corresponding increase''in sundry debtors. Cash resources and investments have been added, to slightly. The directors report that the No. 2 mine; is being developed steadily, and is producing coal of quality equal to No. 1 mine. The industrial position over' the whole of the northern collieries for the latter .part of the year under review was very disturbed,- and 'much working time .;was lost,
