FIRE IN SIDE SHOWS
OUTBBEAK AT EXHIBITION

"', •"' '■■■'•■" '; ATTCKXiAND, This Day . _ An outbreak of firo occurred in the side-show section of tho Auckland Wiuter Exhibition on tho Central Wharf shortly after 11.30. last night. ' Tho flames spread rapidly to the inside of a shed, which is chiefly occupied by trade exhibits.;; The, exhibition had been closed for some time whon the fire was'first noticed. AH-the sheds had been locked, but several men who were operating side-shows remained for some time after tho evening's crowd had gone. The stalls aro situated in the open spaco between the two northern sheds , Jho alarm was given by the nightwatchman, who saw the flames shootinc above the roof. Within three minutei tho brigade was on tho scene, and leads we.ro quickly brought to bear upon the ire, which had been burning for some time, as the flames had penetrated the .wall in two places, and -had also ignited.the roof: '■ . ■ h
y.The exhibition is :open to the -public as usual to-aay. ; Ko difficulty will bo experienced in restoring tho shed to •order.. It is. not known whethor the damaged displays were insured, but no pbhey was held by the exhibition authorities.' ;
