(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, This Day. At tho Supreme Court James Cecil ihilhps pleaded guilty to theft as a servant at Putaruru. He had previous to his arrest accidentally shot himself and had lost ono eye and was likely to loso the sight of the other. Mr. Justice Stringer said that the prisoner had inflicted upon himself such serious injuries that it would be cruelty to subject him to imprisonment. Thoro di"l not seem to bo a possibility of him makmgrestitution. Ho was ordered to come up for sentence whon called upon within twelve months.
