DOWNPOUR AT WAIHI

WAIHI, This Day.. For the twenty-four hours ended 8 o'clock this morning, eight inches of rain fell, constituting a local record for the time. Tho Ohinemuri Elver and the creeks overflowed their* banks, and the main Waihi-Paeroa road for a snort stretch was covered with five feet of water. Apart from the flooding of the gasworks no material damage was done in the town.
