UPPER HUTT BRANCH
The annual meeting of the Upper Hult Plunket Society was held on Saturday last, the Mayor (Mr. P. Robertson) being in the chair. The annual report and balancesheet were adopted. Mr. S. Blackely congratulated the committee on the very successful year's work and the satisfactory state of the balance-sheet. It showed that the interest of Upper Hutt Valley residents was being awakened to the value of the work being done by the Plunket Society. He also congratulated the committee on their foresight in purchasing a section, and urged them to make every effort to have ajmilding erected at an early date. Mi-. Robertson also offered his congratulations, making special reference to the splendid work done by the Plunket nurses (Misses E. Ogilvie and Ellis), and to thu increased attendance during the year of 856 visits. Reference was made during the afternoon to the regret felt at the absence of Mrs. F. Leckie, the president, who could not attend the mesting owing to indisposition, and to the absence abroad of Mrs. Balcombe Brown- and Mrs Macarthy Reid. The branch had also sustained a great loss by the death of Mrs Lodge, to whom it owed its foundation t j ml^ h sorroiy w»s felt At the death of Lady Truby King. Reference was also made to the excellent services rendered by the honorary secretary (Sirs. S. D. Rogers), whose assistance the committee greatly appreciated. Votes of thanks were passed to all who have assisted the branch in various .ways during the past year especially to the Press for giving continued prominence to the society's work.
