UNPLAYABLE BOWLING

HHODES'S T3VISTEES

(United Press Association. —Copyright.)

(Received sth July, 11 a.m.)

LONDON, 4th July.

On tho second day of the match between the New Zealanders and Yorkshire at Bradford there was no play until 4.20 p.m. The wicket was saturated and lifeless when the game was resumed, but Ehodes's deliveries demanded very careful watching. Mills and Lowry, who were not out on the previous day with scores of 11 and 6 respectively, played cautiously, and in twenty minutes they improved the score by only 5 runs. At the tea adjournment the total was 47 for two wickets, Lowry.putting on the 5 which had been scored. On the.previous day New Zealand, in reply to Yorkshire's score of 377, had made 42 runs for the loss of two wicket's. ■''"'.

After the adjournment steady progress, was made until Mills, who had been at the crease for fifty minutes, fell to a brilliant catch at square-leg. Lowry made a very plucky stand, and indulging^ in. some hard hitting he registered'five 4's. He occupied 140 minutes in, compiling a score of 48. With 24 to his account he was missed at the wicket, and finally fell to a catch on the boundary. The other batsmen made a poor fist of matters in endeavouring ■ to play Ehodes 's twisters. ■ Bad light accounted for "stumps being drawn early. . New Zealand had made 133 for'the loss of seven wickets. The attendance on the second day : was negligible.Folio wing are the details;: — .': ' ' YORKSHIRE.
