The. Synod passed votes of condolence with tile families ot deceased synodsnien, and viotcs of thanks lor services rendered by lay readers, organists, choirs, Sunday school teachers, and many others. •' . Tho Richmond Bowling Club hiald its annual meeting on the Ist July.; The balance-sheet indicated a sutisfactciry financial condition. Mr. It. Loney wan elected president. j
Matters pertaining to procuration of tho services of a veterinary surgeon and facilities for testing were discussed: at the annual meeting of thelNelson Club /of Jersey breeders, after which the secretary gavo a review of operations duricng the past six years, which the chairman stated promised a more prosperous future*. Mr. James Hunt was re-elected presifiqnt. Iho Electric Light Committee of the Nelson City Council has recommended that immediate steps be taken to -float a special loan for tho purpose of inca-easing' tho electric power plant. Mr. Alexander Drmnmond, aged 89, of Riwaka, was congratulated receutlj upon having S3 descendants. An old servant of the Nelson ho rough, Mr. TV Quirk, of Washington Valloy, lias passed away. Mr. Charles R. Hill, son of Mr. Charles Hill, of Nelson, died recently in Christ!'church. The steamer Arahura will bo withdrawn from tho Wellington-Nelson service in order to undergo her periodical inspection. Tho Alexander will take up the running in tho meanwhile.
