VISIT TO ENGLAND

SURE SIGN OF PEACE

FRIENDLINESS AGAIN

(United Press Association.—Copyright) (Received 20th June, 10 a.m.) LONDON, 19th June. The diplomatic correspondent of the "Observer" says that the fact that King Ifuad has arranged to arrive in London on 4th July is regarded as ample evidence that past friendliness

has been restored between Britain and Egypt. It is an open secret that King Fuad's presence will be the occasion of soundings in the direction of an important change of AngloEgyptian relations, whereby a formal alliance will be concluded

and independence restored to Egypt. Tho fact that Sarwat Pasha has convinced the Wafd (Parliament) that the best policy to adopt is to be friendly towards Britain is regarded as likely to lead to a satißiactory settlement. The Egyptian Government will have to commit itself to the perpetual freedom of Suez, to arrange for a security of foreign lives and property, and to agree to a sort of joint Monoe Doctrine, whereby no third Power will be allowed to interfere in Egypt. ■. ■ ■ ■
