CHBISTCHUECH, 17th Juse, The New Zealand Shimming Council met last night. Mr.' C. A. Edenborough (Auckland) wrote forwarding a cheque for £.108, the council's proportion of ■the account of the original New Zealand Swimrqing Association in Auckland, which was wound up. It was do* cided that the money should be. placed to the capital account, and the .treasurer was requested to submit a report as to the best means of giving effect to the resolution. A vote of thanks was passed to Mr. Edenborough for his work. ' ;

Air. A. Miedonald said he would like to see a table compiled showing the number of drowning accidents in Hew Zealand each year. He was of the ppinion that a number pf good swimmers were being drowned. It would be interesting it" they ceuld find put what proportion of those drowned could swim and. what propprtijm could not.
