HUTT POWER BOARD

The monthly meeting of the Hutt Valley Electric Power Board was held" on Thursday. Mr.A. J. Hobbs presided. Mr. S. Blackley reported that complaints of low voltage on the Akatarawa line had been made-to him. The engineer explained that this was due to insufficient copper in the'wiring.

Mr. E. Windley complained about the efficiency of the water heaters, and it was pointed out that this was due to faults in the thermostatieal connections. The Wellington Racing Club asked for a reduction m its annual charge. The club had originally entered into an unwritten agreement with the board to purchase annually current to the value of £175., At the club's request this amount was reduced to £150. A special line had been constructed for the club's supply, but fifteen dwelling-houses were now being supplied off that line. ' : It was decided to ask the engineer to report how much power th« fifteen houses ■were using, and how much the board was supplying compared with the amount it had guaranteed to supply, and the cost of installation.

Mr. W. Press said that complaints had been made to him that the board was treating its clients in an unreasonably generous manner. Some persons were supposed to have paid their deposits, but not their instalments, and had not been billed for them. With the object of determining .whether or not this was so he moved, and it was decided, that the secretary furnish a full report to next meeting;
