Over IJ3OO volumes from the estates of the late Mr. Frederic Shaw, the late Mrs. Binriey, and the late Mr. Herbert Thompson were recently disposed of by Richard Arthur, Ltd., Auckland. Bidding was keen for a second edition,, in two; volumes of Buller's Birds," which brought £10 10s. The volumes, which were dated 1888, contained many excellent coloured plates of New Zealand birds. Other New Zealand books sold were: Anson's Voyages, 1762, £1; Kirk's "New Zealand Forest Flora;" £1 6s; Taylor's "New Zealand," £1 ■ 3s; Swainwright 's '' Wars of New Zealand," £1 Is; Anson and Wilkio's "Voyages Around the World," 18s; and Bushby's "New Zealand Colonisation," £1 3s. ■'•■ "
Tho cost of filming an adaptation of Mr. John Buchan's novel, "Huntingtower," is estimated at £50,000, of which Sir Harry Lauder, who will fill the role of the retired Glasgow grocer, will receive £10,000..
