REUNION AT HUTT
• :TKe Hutt branch of the. Returned Soldiers' Association, together .with the South African Veterans; held its annual sinoke-conccrt on Thursday. Mr. J. Buncan, president of the branch* presided, and. there -were also present:' Major Sir Andrew Russell, Colonel H. E. Avery, and Mr. ;t. M. "Wxlfordj The toast of "The King" was follow, ed by that of "Our Absent Comrades^ proposed by Mr. Felton and accompiii. ied by the singing of the and the sounding of the "Last Post." ; Colonel Avery. proposed the toast of the "New Zealand. Returned Soldiers' Association:" • . \ • Sir Andrew Russell said that he was very gratified with the success of. the E.S.A., which was ably performing its object. Hollana was an example of a country which had fallen because it had rested on past successes and had failed to keep together. The British Empire, if it would survive the test-of time, must keep together. Internal differences must bo forgotten for tn« common good. ' . ' '"-7 ■;*,"■;. . Mr. Duncan proposed the toas.t : -off "Parliament." . ■-■;• Mr. T. M.
