LIMERICK V. COMMENDATION

AN EXPEET OPINION. ;

A day or two ago a Southern pressman went round prominent racing folk to discover opinions on the respect \ a merits of Limerick and Commendation. Amongst those approached was B. J. Mason, who has seen Limerick race in Australia and Commendation in Now Zealand. His opinion ~vvill be admitted to be of more than average value, more particularly when it is considered he has no interest whatever in either horse. He said: "There is no doubt that both geldings are high-class perform^ ers, but I think Limerick will defeat Commendation over any distance from a mile upwards. I saw Commendation at Auckland at Christmas time, but of course he met little opposition there, and until I see him opposed to good horses my opinion is that Limerick is the better three-year-old. However, they are both good horses, and it is a difficult question to decide which is the greater till they both meet fit and well." -.. ' .
