SUSPENSION OF PLAYER

. ' ,• . AUCKLAND, This Day. Through the failure, of the. Thistle Club to withdraw a letter,' considered to contain remarks uncalled for, the Management 'Committee of the Auckland Football Association last evening resolved to call the Thistle Committee before the 'meeting on Tuesday. . The matter arose through the suspension of a Thistle senior player, J. Christie, ■and the letter received from the secretary. •tated .that, in the opinion of the club the whole procedure in conection with the suspension was dealt with in a most unfair manner, as it was an impossibility for ;.Chnitie to' kick Woolley; However, the committee without due consideration for the public, the player, or the club, willingly accepted the report from the referee, which was contrary to fact.

'■ TbVchairman, Mr. A. Menzies, said that •the committee had given the club notice •.to 'withdraw the letter, and had received .a reply, that the committee of the Thistle Club felt that there were persons in the Auckland Football Association apparently hostile to the club. They did not feel justified in withdrawing the letter. The chairman said that the Thistle Club hati the right of appeal to the New Zealand Football Association if it thought ah injustice had been done. However, it had not adopted tha. icourse. .The same club was ■ implicated in. a similar incident two years' ago, and on that occasion an apology made by the secretary was accepted.
